Enough sturdy rectangularly shaped pieces of gf bread to toast? Nope. Just a pile of large crumbs. When it comes to structure, I really, really miss gluten. Also price.
TV cooks to the rescue! K and my Mom have a cupcake thing, Mom loves to buy K pretty cupcake making accessories, and they used to watch Cupcake Wars together on Sunday afternoons, I think they like the Great British Baking Show better now. One thing that show made me realize is that if flavors work in one type of food, they work well in another (hence all the cupcakes based on mixed drinks.)
So, I fried up my bacon, left the grease in the pan, then added my large gf breadcrumbs and a minced clove of garlic to the pan, and made a salad with lettuce, tomato, croutons, and bacon, dressed with mayonnaise thinned with a little milk and salt and pepper.
Serious yum.
