We have a great chain in our area that sells a fresh frozen lemonads called Dels. But us being us, we wanted to see if we could make our own version.I definitely don’t have the texture quite like Dels, but here it is:
- 8 lemons
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cup sugar (approximate)
- Zest one of the lemons and set it aside.
Slice all the fruit into 1/8 inch slices, easier if you cut each one in half first so they quit rolling on the cutting board.
Combine with the salt and sugar and let sit for 45 min or so. The sugar should be the same volume as the fruit.
Squish the fruit with a potato masher, strain out the syrup, discard the rinds.
Dilute the syrup to %30 (add twice as much water as the volume of syrup)
Sprinkle the reserved zest on top, and freeze in a shallow container.
If you stir midway through freezing it’s easier to scratch out servings later with a spoon.
I’ve been swimming daily except Sunday this week. (Yeah Me!)
