I’m addicted to checking my site stats. Someone read last year’s post about homeschooling expenses, and I realized it’s been a year since I put that one up, so it’s time for a new one!
This year we paid off the flute, and My Cousin Martha send B a nice holed one (Thanks!) so that’s a smaller expense. I spent about $13 more on library fees than last year (sorry Dan).
Standardized testing was cheaper because BJU is now e-mailing the results, not printing them and sending them in the post. It should be so much faster that I can avoid my annual “Dear Ms Principal, I will send you the results for B’s standardized test as soon as they arrive, but they will not be here before your office closes for the summer.” letter.
I did not count supplies I bought for co-op that I was re-embursed for, and I think the other families in the Lego club kicked in about half the Lego expenses, but I forgot to record them because they paid us back in cash.
Wow. We spend a lot more… piano lessons for 3 (though that was cheaper this year because I did a significant portion of them) and sports including swim team were major expenses. But I spend a lot more on books than you– and your library fees don’t bring you close. This is so interesting. Thanks!
I imagine that since your 4 are more closely spaced than our 3, you have more books to buy at once than we do – M mostly uses things I bought for B, and K only has new birthday toys (a lot of them were educational…)
Hello! I saw you added me on Google+ and wandered my way over here. I totally feel like I’m sticking my nose in other people’s business, but since you put it on your blog…have you ever considered buying a used flute on eBay? I only thought of this because my cousin works for a company that sells used school instruments there. I took a peek and saw several in your rental price range. As someone who keeps such careful track of things, I figured you might like the idea. :)
I don’t homeschool, but several of my friends do. I’m impressed at how low your field trip expenses are – I think that would be my biggest expense!
Have a great day. :
If my first cousin once removed didn’t read my blog and mail us a lovely used flute, I might have! The initial decision to rent was that we thought it would be a passing fancy. So, now we own two flutes.
Good idea though!
(I think that a lot of our field trip expenses fell into misc because it’s handier to grab cash, but later it’s hard for me to categorize it. Hmm, was this cash for a field trip or laundry?)
Haha! I don’t know. :) I wondered how I ended up back in May when I mosied over here? I’ve no idea. Hope to see you around on Google+ :)
