Organise me: sounds like a pastry Alice should have found in Wonderland.
I have tidied my cabinets, ordered curricula, written my long term goals for the year, today is the “organise one sixth,” day. But I feel like I’m forgetting something. Perhaps because I haven’t done this in a few months? Maybe I’m loath to leave the summer.
Goodbye late mornings, goodbye internet sessions,
goodbye tidy house, goodbye computer mouse
and spontaneous errands that can’t interrupt lessons
Goodbye neighbor kids with bikes and sidewalk chalk
Goodbye movie nights and late talks
Goodbye humid air
Goodbye summer everywhere.
Only, the farmstands will have sweet corn and tomatoes well into September (unless the crop was lost to Irene) Dan actually finds it easier to take off work in autumn than summer, the neighbor kids should be home after school (though they have lots of after school sports). And usually, I enjoy the days more when there is a not-too-ridged-framework;because the kids get less whiny when their expectations are for school work not fun fun fun…which turns out to be organise their closets before we make a trip to the Salvation Army to get rid of their give away piles .
So: print the maps and coloring pages for SotW, print the whole enchalada from Living Math, interleave them in the “Get Organised” notebook.
Then put the extra books on reserve at the library, and write out Ben’s assignment list.
I think I’ll take a shower first.
The Carnival of homeschooling is up, and this post is in it. Please help us all out by spreading the word.=)
