M noticed this hawk in my neighbor’s tree about 10:30 – we were done with copy work, memory work, and recorder, but we hadn’t gotten to reading, math or phonogram bingo.
So of course, we dumped the plan, called B, got out the field guide, and binoculars – the ones that are in the middle of being calibrated.
At 11:15 it turned around, and defecated.
Some blue jays attempted a half hearted mobbing, but did not recruit much help. It didn’t mind sand spreader, plow, or near car accident. M thinks red tailed hawk, I’m kind of leaning to Northern Goshawk, but I’m a totally lame birder. What do you think?
