Twist 1: M was picking up the K’Neks (voluntarily!) when one piece of roller coaster track sprung up and hurt his eye. DH took him to the ER, and he is getting anti-biotic ointment 3x daily, scratched cornea.
Twist 2 ( A nice one): My cousins came down from Cambridge to pick apples, K had a chance to run around the orchards with B, who is old enough now to be her confederate.
They played hide, bumped into another group, then ran back to familiar adults when another little kid tried to hug them.
At my Mom’s house for supper, B and K tried to wash their hands in the toilet with Grandma’s pretty blue shampoo – it was easier to reach than the sink.
Twist 3: We slept in this morning, so we were running out the door for Sunday School AND B’s chili cook off late. We did forget the extension cord and ladle, but we borrowed some from church.
B placed 7th out of 20 contestants! The head judge told DH that he had personally voted for B to come in 4th. B was not the only young contestant, the winner’s Mom had to accept the prize (a basket full of chili making ingredients and other things) because some of the other things were bottles of Budweiser.
Things slowed down after the chili cook off, Grandma served some snacks before evening church. We called Dan’s folks, the Apple Picking party came together delightfully.
