Yesterday, K did not get hit by the red car. I’d (stupidly) let go her hand as we walked home up the hill from the library, and in one of those nightmare moments that stretched out in time and lost sequence, I saw a car coming, checked on K, screamed her name, the car stopped, and I ran into the road to scoop her up.
Today she did not drown when she walked into the pond and tripped. As I hauled her out and walked briskly towards DH’s work, she yelled "Ah wan’ go ‘a’ i’! Ah wan’ go ‘a’ i’!" until we got to the lab, where she put on her angel face and told DH she was "WET!" But she didn’t complain of cold until we got home and took off her layers, she had on tights, pants, boots, shirt, sweater, coat, wool hat, mittens…and it was a sunny day with temperature over freezing.
Right now she is in her crib NOT napping during nap time.
Oy– two is gonna be fun! It's only a year, right?
