We spent part of the Memorial Day Weekend at Uncle E and Aunt S’s house in Waverly, NY. We got to hear Uncle E preach, show us magic tricks, and watch mythbusters with us, and take us for a walk in one of the many waterfall gorges of that part of upstate NY.
Aunt S made the boys applesauce (M especially adores home made apple sauce. He now wants me to make mine just like hers!)
The parsonage they live in is a gracious old farmhouse. Uncle E’s collections of beautiful furniture and antiques look lovely there. But M’s favorite part was the piano. He made up theme songs to stories tabout his imaginary country. Aunt S informed me that M is now ready for piano lessons. Since her Ph. D is in voice, that means a lot. She suggested that I get the "God’s Children Sing" curriculum from musikgarten for M’s homeschool next year, as he’s become reluctant to sing lately.
DH and Uncle E also went "creek-ing" a few times, and found fossils!
I’d left my camera at home. So the only pictures I have of there house are the ones I took on Mom’s camera, and that M took; mostly of K exploring a rustic basket of acorns. I have enough photos of the waterfall walk to make it’s own post though.
M took this photo.
It had gotten chilly in the night, so I put K’s leggings on in the middle of the night. Aunt S said she looked like a German baby at breakfast.
I told her not to eat the acorns.
She was a bit chagrined.
But philosophical.
After all that, she was ready for her morning nap.
