I wonder if we all give advice to counterbalance our own habits.
For instance, I love order, structure, and plans, when I can get them! Does that mean my house is clean? No, but I can find things. Does that mean I school-at-home? No, I don’t exactly know what we do. Semi-classical without the stages, sort of Charlotte Mason- ish only we teach spelling and reading differently, not really un-schooled though I meant to do it that way in the beginning. When my friends get burnt out, I usually suggest that they de-school for a while. I sound like an editorial from Home Education Magazine. Hmmm.
One homeschool Mom alumna, with three girls done with college, some done before they were 20, with scholarships and it gets better, all using their spiritual gifts in their local churches, immediate and extended families – yes they are all a bit intimidating – urges homeschoolers to have a schedule, rise early, use Bob Jones or Abeka, and be very disciplined. She herself is a poet, composes songs, and is a night person. I know from talking with her daughters that she did take her own advise, but, Hmmm.
Does the elusive "this is how to do it right" attribute seem to be the thing we ourselves fight hardest to achieve?
Just wondering.
