First Solo Week after K’s Birth

DH went back to work on Monday.  M had an uncharacteristic meltdown, so DH snuggled him after lunch and read him library books, then fell asleep himself.  Fortunately he woke by 1:30, his company president is himself a father of young kids, and only laughed at the story.  So I may be soloing, but we are easing into the solo state.
Yesterday Mrs M from church dropped by for two hours to help me out, she vacuumed, and polished the stove top and did dishes,  but the most appreciated thing she did was play M’s new game with him, while I nursed K, and B finished his independent assignments.   Whenever I see the shiny tea kettle I  think of her kindness. She used to work as a home health aid, and retired this year because she’s having trouble lifting elderly patients.  We have no one she needs to lift, so she offered to come two times this week.
I got news that a CSA is opening in Rehoboth, our neighboring town.  My Mom and I might join jointly to split the $600 worth of veggies, eggs and honey, all organic!  The lady beginning the CSA plans on having educational days.  We might join a CSA in Sharon instead, Mom can pick up the veggies on her way home from work. The CSA in Rehoboth will involve an extra trip down, as the boxes won’t be ready on Sunday or Wednesday when we drive there anyhow for church although  some one else from our town might pick up the box for us.  Hmm, educational extras, or saving gas…we’ll see.

DH told me an engineering joke on Monday: when you are planning a new product, there is cheap, fast or good.  You can have any two of the three.
DH told me, baby care, homeschooling or housekeeping, I can do any two of the three.

The boys want to listen to "The Man in the Iron Mask" over at

So I need to get off the computer and give them a turn now.

  1. Christine,

We just decided to re-join our old CSA. (We did two different ones when in Chicago– one from the Madison area, and one near Rockford. Then we did one here for 2 years until we moved.) We had skipped a year because I thought we'd be moving (which didn't happen until that fall) and then the last summer, because I thought it was too far… but we just decided it was something we needed to do. I think we've got spots as working members, so the kids will have a chance to be on the farm every week this summer, sorting produce and learning their way around the farm. I'm so excited! I hope your CSA membership works out, too!

    Blessings,

    Annie

P.S. I couldn't figure out what your sniglets meant (I guess I'm a little sleep deprived!)
